EquiTERR Arena Flooring
EquiTERR
is the perfect solution for arena flooring. It works equally well for both
indoor or outdoor riding arenas. Created nearly thirty years ago for the
Spanish Riding School in Vienna, home of the Lippizaners, EquiTERR has
proven to be a perfect flooring for dressage events. EquiTERR is also a
primary reason that the International Horse Arena in Hanover, Germany is
used annually for international jumping competition.
Outside Arenas: EquiTERR's honeycomb structure insures immediate
drainage, so that the arena can be used 365 days a year, regardless of
weather. A bed of coarse gravel, followed by the interlocking EquiTERR
sections and topped with fine gravel will create a rut free, permanently
level, and extremely safe and stable surface. This provides horses with
excellent footing at every gait. The honeycombs effectively hold the gravel
in place so that no maintenance is required. Although not necessary, it is
possible to top the gravel with a sand layer if desired. With EquiTERR you
will never have to worry about rainwater and soil erosion. Your outdoor
arena will never have pools of water or muddy places.
Inside Arenas: While drainage is not a major concern in indoor
arenas the necessity of superior horse footing is. A more shallow base
gravel bed, the layer of interlocking EquiTERR and a topping of fine gravel
will assure stability and provide permanently level, comfortable riding
arena footing for your horse.
Top Surface: For indoor horse riding arenas the surface is simply
a matter of the owner's choice. Any of the traditional toppings or
manufactured arena surface materials will work perfectly. EquiTERR's grid
structure eliminates the problem of the top coating mixing with the arena
base. If a top layer of sand is your choice you need only a chain drag to
keep the sand level. Isn't it nice to know that you don't need special horse
arena equipment to maintain an EquiTERR arena?
Want to cut construction costs? Should you decide that you need
only the outer ring of the arena for your training, it is possible to
install EquiTERR only in that area in which you will be working your horse.
